All work and no play makes jack a dull boy...

Saw a post on tomorrow.sg, about how apathetic singaporean youths may be. Well, I guess this ain't news, and its certainly isn't new. Yet, what struck me, was, why are we still talking about it? Hasn't it been some time, since this was first brought up, and since, what has happened?

If anyone did following the recent french elections, the youths of france however disillusioned with their leaders (or former leaders), were passionate about what is going on the france (perhaps more gloomy), but it mattered to them, and they want to have a say in what happens.

Do Singaporean youths have an opinion of their future and what is going on in Singapore? Do they openly express how they feel, and what they think should be done? Do people listen to what is said, and do they respond to them? Do they feel that they have a stake in the future of the nation? Do they feel that they have any say in that Singapore's future will be? Do they feel that they can make change happen?

If countries like France which supposedly has a government which people would by far consider less than mediocre can have people who are passionate about their country and who want to associate their future with that of their nation, why is Singapore government which considers itself way ahead and far superior to others unable to have people like that? Are such traits undesirable?

Maybe if we do a statistical study, we might just find that leaders who are paid least, produce countries where people are more passionater about their country. Just a hunch.
